Scan your certificates, free.

Upload a few PDFs or a zip of your COI folder. Okay to Work checks every certificate, a person verifies anything it couldn't read clearly, and within 2 business days you get a report with one line per vendor.

  • Every certificate checked automatically for expired policies, low limits, missing coverage, and whether you are named as certificate holder and additional insured.
  • Files are virus-scanned and stored encrypted. Only Okay to Work and the processors in our privacy notice can access them.
  • Your files and everything read from them are deleted after 30 days.

What the free scan does

The free scan checks every certificate in your COI folder, not just one. Upload a few PDFs or a zip of the whole folder. Okay to Work reads each certificate, checks it, and a person verifies anything the software couldn't read clearly. Within 2 business days you get a report with one line per vendor, so you can see at a glance who is okay to work and who isn't.

For each certificate, the scan looks for:

  • Expired policies, and policies that end within 30 days.
  • Limits below common contractor minimums for general liability, auto, umbrella and workers' comp.
  • Coverage that is missing.
  • Whether additional insured and waiver of subrogation are marked.

Free scan or free checker?

The free COI checker looks at one certificate, right away, in your browser. The free scan is for your whole vendor list: it takes a little longer because a person checks anything unclear, and the report shows every vendor side by side. If you only want to check the certificate a vendor just sent, the checker is quicker.

What happens to your files

Files are virus-scanned and stored encrypted. Only Okay to Work can access them, plus the processors listed in our privacy notice. Your files, and everything read from them, are deleted after 30 days, and from our backups within 5 weeks. The report tells you what each certificate says. It is not insurance advice; your contracts and your broker decide what you need.

After the scan

If the report shows problems, our guide on what to do when a vendor's certificate has expired walks through the next steps, and the request email template gets the right certificate back the first time. If you'd rather not chase vendors yourself, Okay to Work can do it for you from $49 a month.
